Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the ingredients come from?
Sourcing is a very important element at Rue Traversette.
All our ingredients are purchased as locally as possible around our cannery in Hérault.
Vegetables are purchased in season as much as possible for recipes that can then be kept for 3 years.
Some are organic, some come from the Red Cross integration projects with which we have been working since 2018.
Spices of course sometimes come from further afield.
And that's it : no other ingredients go into our preparations.
Vegetarian? Vegan?
Vegetarian, yes; Vegan, not always.
We only work with vegetables and spices, so all our products are perfect for vegetarians.
On the other hand, some recipes contain honey and/or alcohol and are therefore not vegan.
On this site you will find the detailed ingredients for each recipe.
Type "vegan" into the search bar at the top of the page and you'll see what our vegan credentials are.
No gluten, no preservatives, no additives in Rue Traversette jars!
Organic ?
We don't have a range labeled organic at the moment, but some of our ingredients are.
Our sourcing is above all as local as possible, with reasonable prices and not necessarily organic.
We produce organically for some of our customers, under their brand, and we are certified organic processors (Ecocert) .
Where are Rue Traversette pots produced?
Rue Traversette is an artisanal cannery; three people cook full-time in our laboratory.
Our recipes are developed and produced in-house in our workshop in Saint André de Sangonis, near Montpellier in Occitanie.
A hundred recipes, all handmade, in our Saint-André workshop!
Why pasteurization?
This process allows us to offer recipes that retain all their nutrients and flavors, an advantage over sterilization!
The taste qualities are intact and the jar can be kept for 3 years (for spreads) closed and at room temperature.
How to replace peanuts and chips as an aperitif?
You've come to the right place!
Our vegetable spreads placed on a table with a spoon in each pot and a basket of bread or crackers - and voilà!
Everyone helps themselves and the aperitif becomes healthy.
How do we eat them?
Delicious as an aperitif on toast, crackers or bread.
Or in the kitchen, you will find examples on our product pages and under the " recipes " tab of this site.
How to store spreads?
Our spreads are pasteurized, so the capsule is "popped" when you buy the jar.
- Before opening, they can be stored at room temperature for 3 years (see DLUO / DDM on the label or capsule)
- After opening, keep in the refrigerator for a few days.
